January 28 (GREENVILLE, NY) – The perfect place for a church
retreat, a family reunion, or a weekend getaway… now is the
time to book your event at the scenic and serene Ararat Center located
in upstate New York. Many groups have already discovered the beauty
and benefits of this facility purchased two years ago by the Diocese
of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern).
Just 30 miles south of Albany, overlooking the majestic Catskill
mountains, the Ararat Center has already seen two successful seasons.
The Center, which serves as the permanent home of the St. Vartan
Church Camp, has also been host to avak (senior) groups, youth gatherings,
festivals, and ecumenical luncheons just to name a few.
Seven buildings anchor this 65-acre facility. The site can accommodate
up to 150 people in a variety of room types. Many guest rooms have
been upgraded with fresh paint and new furniture allowing for a
more comfortable stay. Some buildings include air-conditioning,
heat, cable television and private baths.
Amenities include a large recreation room, an in-ground pool, a
baseball field, a volleyball pit, a bocce ball court, horseshoes,
a climbing wall, a one-acre pond, a small playground, and a designated
campfire area.
A full-service, professional kitchen and onsite cook can provide
up to three meals a day specific to dietary needs. A large dining
hall can double as a meeting room. In addition, there are several
other smaller areas that may be used for meetings or gathering spaces.
The Ararat Center season begins in mid-April and operates through
mid-October. July and most of August are already booked for camp
sessions. However, days remain available in May and portions of
June as well as September.
