ARARAT CENTER PAVILION CONSTRUCTION PROGRESSES
Brick walkway and Founding Faithful monument being finalized
January 10, 2007 (Greenville, NY) – The Ararat Center pavilion construction continues to make impressive progress. The foundation for the 60 x 100 foot pavilion has been set and walls for the five attached classrooms are beginning to be built.
This structure will be known as Sepastia in-line with the other onsite buildings and recreational areas that have been renamed after historic Armenian regions. The pavilion – which will also house a basketball court and restroom facilities – will greatly enhance the Ararat Center and allow everyone in the Diocese and the community-at-large unique opportunities for use including picnics, retreats, conferences, sporting events, cultural events & courses, concerts, dances, and vendors fairs. And of course, the classrooms will be of great benefit to the St. Vartan Camp program which is permanently housed at the Ararat Center located in Upstate New York. Read full article...
PAVILION PROJECT UPDATE - 12/1/06
December 1, 2006 (Greenville, NY) - Unbelievable? Not any more. The digging has begun for the much anticipated pavilion and classrooms at the Ararat Center. Although the earth makes for tough digging there, the ground is ready for footings and rebar rod placement. We have met very few obstacles (e.g., an existing ground sewer created the relocation of the entire building 25 feet south), and the townspeople have been extremely supportive of this project. TO BE HELD AT ARARAT CENTER OCTOBER 20-21
October 1, 2006 (Greenville, NY) – The Father & Son Weekend,
sponsored by the Ararat Center Board of Directors, will be held on
Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21 at the Ararat Center
located in upstate New York. The orginal length and program
has been modified and shortened to a two day, one night event.
"We are sponsoring this weekend to offer an opportunity for
fathers and sons 12 years old and up to enjoy some time together
with no other distractions and share it with other fathers and sons
from around the Diocese in a wonderful setting that lends itself

hundreds of people gathered to enjoy the annual Ararat Center Festival
held in mid-July. Sounds of the Philly Kef Band filled the
air of this beautiful, Diocesan-owned facility located in Upstate
New York as people dined on their choice of delicious barbecue chicken
or luleh kebob meals and Armenian pastries, participated in the 50/50

July 1, 2006 (GREENVILLE, NY) – Rev. Fr. Paree Metjian served more
than a decade as the director of St. Vartan Camp upon being appointed
by then Primate, Archbishop Torkom Manoogian in 1980. The camp program
was started in 1979 as a project of the ACYOA Seniors. What began
as a one-week program with 50 participants grew into a two-week
camp with nearly 150 campers under the leadership of Fr. Paree.

Diocesan-owned facility reaching for its full potential
with expansion projects and Armenian flavor mixed in
February 7, 2006 (GREENVILLE, NY) – In January of 2004, the Diocese
of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern) made a bold and foresighted
move to purchase 65 acres of land in upstate New York. Formerly
the site of a family-owned resort, the Diocesan Camp Search Committee
saw the full potential of utilizing this facility for not only the
permanent home of the St. Vartan Camp program, but also envisioned
parishes and the ecumencial community hosting a variety of gatherings
on site.
In addition, it has been thought to incorporate elements of Armenia
into the Ararat Center through historical, spiritual and cultural
touches, thereby reinforcing the presence of the homeland.

RECEIVES GENEROUS FURNITURE DONATION FROM SHERATON COMMANDER HOTEL
December 1, 2005 (GREENVILLE, NY) – The Ararat Center of the Diocese
of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern), was gifted with furniture
from the Sheraton Commander Hotel in Cambridge, MA, owned by Ed
Guleserian. The Cambridge Sheraton has been in midst of renovations
over the past couple years. Initial discussions began between Guleserian
and the former Diocesan Executive Director, Dr. Sam Mikaelian, at
the beginning of the year defining the needs at both the Diocese
and the Ararat Center. Guleserian, enlightened by this discussion,
generously offered to donate an entire floor of hotel furniture
to help refurbish both the Diocesan guest rooms and various buildings
at the Ararat Center. read

Paving way to future through personalized bricks
November 21, 2005 (GREENVILLE, NY) – The Ararat Center Board of
Directors has recently launched the “Pathfinders Campaign” involving
the purchase of personalized engraved bricks placed in areas around
the grounds of the Ararat Center that will be used for walkways and
patios.
“These personalized bricks will add to the natural beauty
of the landscape at the Ararat Center, but more so, they will bring
a wonderful sense of ownership and pride to this facility by the
Armenian people,” explained Karen Durgarian, brick campaign

costumes
displayed
at the Armenian Heritage Collection show,” described one attendee.
This event, presented by the Ararat Center Board of Directors of
the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern), was held
at the Kavookjian Hall in New York City on October 29. It was the
first time in 25 years that this collection was brought back to the
